My Spirituality II

After a year long search for a new church home and after years avoiding church altogether, I recently joined the Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Henderson, NV.

I believe that the path to God is like a wheel. God is the hub and there are many spokes (religions) available to reach him. I was looking for a place that helped me find my path to become a true practicing Christian. This church has become the spoke that works best for me.

Being a pragmatic, logical and analytical person, my search for Christ has been difficult one and it still is a work in progress. I must continually try to let go of my doubts and just have faith. I am inherently an introvert, so it has been a difficult task for me to allow others to help in my search. I envy the happiness and peace of those that have been able to completely let go and let their Holy Spirit guide their lives.

As I re-read my previous spirituality post, I realize how my attitude toward religion has been self-serving, and a bit egotistical. I recently read a book (Believing Is Seeing) about a physicist’s struggle to become a Christian. The author’s intelligence far surpasses mine. He has a logically driven mind like me and he found his path to Christ. It made me realize just how undefinable the universe really is, how the concept of time is being redefined, how eternity is so incomprehensible and how unbelievable it is that the universe ever came into existence. That in itself proves the existence of God. It made me realize how little I truly understand.
