David Adoption

Born January 10, 1987

David’s adoption was a much more sudden decision. We had three weeks to prepare for Alex.

One day Janet got a call from Sister Marilyn at Nevada Catholic Welfare telling her a pregnant woman was going to put a baby up for adoption. Since the child was half Japanese, the sister thought we would be the perfect match. Janet thought it might be too soon, since Alex was only a year and a half old at the time.

Family addition

A few months later, the sister called me at Ethel M Chocolates to tell me the baby boy had been born. I left work, picked up Janet and Alex and went to get our new son. We had to buy diapers and formula on the way home.

I again had the middle of the night feeding duty and it was a totally different experience. Where it took patient coaxing to get Alex to feed the recommended amount of formula, David had no trouble packing away as much as was offered.

I know we are both grateful today when we look at our now grown son. We could not be more proud.
