In the early 1900s we welcomed immigrant and processed them through Ellis Island in New York City. Waves of Irish, Polish and Italians came because of famine and various issues in their homeland. They settled in communities with their countrymen, but were all determined to become American. They had to learn English because that was the only language in schools and most places of employment.

Many years ago we enacted immigration laws for immigrants becoming citizens. Now, most immigrants from Europe and Asia at least try to go through the legal processs. Lately we have not enforced those laws and have thus encouraged Latin Americans to cross the southern border any way they can. It has also helped create Mexican cartels.

We now have a whole new generation of children that are being raised in America but born elsewhere. These children are the real victims. President Trump during his term in office even told Nancy Pelosi that he was willing to offer these kids citizenship, if we kept tough immigration policies in place. She ignored this. Why?

Joe Biden in 2021 encouraged more of this with policies effectively eliminating any means to stem the flow. The result is a four fold factor of increase. He also ended construction on the border wall and ended forcing Mexico to hold illegals on their side of the border until processed.

Main stream media called this “kids in cages” under Trump. Now these are called “holding areas”, even though they are now “holding” at least four times as many kids as they did under Trump.

I believe they are doing this is because they want more voters, not because Democrat politicians really care about these poor people.
