Roselawn Boulevard House

We moved into our home on Roselawn Boulevard sometime about 1960. I remember house hunting with my parents. They eventually deciding to build a new home in a suburb of Green Bay called Allouez. My dad had bought home several house plan magazines that we all looked at that especially fascinated me. I studied each house in those magazines and eventually picked out the one we decided on. I was always proud that my pick turned out to be the winner.

Construction

It was a split level that had four different levels.

  • The lowest was the basement for utilities and a large game room.
  • The second level was the family/TV room with bar and had two bedrooms in the front for my brother and I. John got a secret panel put into the wall of his room during construction to hide his secret stash.
  • The third level was the kitchen, dining and living room. The top level had three bedrooms, a master for my parents and a room for each of my sisters.

John talked my dad into putting a removable secret panel put into the wall of his room during construction to hide a secret stash.

Having a ground level bedroom, far from my parents room, made sneaking out at night during high school very easy.

Right behind the house is a big open area that had a catholic abbey called St. Norbert’s where the Green Bay Packers held their training camps during the 50s and 60s.

This is a video of my youngest sister Amy having a birthday party at this house, I am guessing around 1964. Notice how small the trees shrubs are in the video back then and how lush the property looks as shown in the picture above.
