This picture was taken in 1913, when there were only 2,000 Civil war veterans left. This happened at the Gettysburg battlefield at a part called the Angle. It was the high water mark of Pickett’s charge. They met as Americans shaking hands fifty years later–not as enemies.

If our country could survive this, we can survive what we are going through now, it just does not seem like it lately.
