“It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the love of money for its own sake.” ― Margaret Thatcher
I think that it is more what you do with your wealth that defines you.
Two great leaders of the 1980s that actually changed the world for the better. They were the antithesis of liberalism.
Liberals never seem to understand that the so-called “greedy wealthy” are the ones paying most of people’s incomes, either through their taxes or business profit. If you take away the opportunity for these people to acquire wealth, you lose jobs for people they would have employed. The wealthy usually have little or no income, so raising income taxes does not affect them, it only affects the employed. They invest most of their wealth. That money provides the capital used by others for growth and job opportunities. That is why capitalism works.
You ever wonder why so many national politicians leave after extended careers with a net worth many times what is was when they entered office?
Do you believe that they truly represent your interests?
Follow the money, if what politicians are doing does not make sense. Both sides of the political aisle are equally guilty. That is why this country so desperately needs term limits in Congress to get these politicians back to actually serving their constituents, not lining their pockets.
Most politicians today do not even bother with the basic laws of economics, It is all about them maintaining power, not representing you. The most abhorrent thing is spending your taxes to buy people’s votes, not to improve lives or to truly represent interests. Look what fifty years of buying votes has done to black urban communities, fatherless homes, a gang culture, a disproportionate amount of drug use, and a belief that their ONLY path to survival is receiving government money.
